Knox County Agricultural Museum Endowment Fund

Help maintain

Knox County’s

Rural Past

Why an endowment fund?

  1. The act of endowing.

  2. Funds or property donated to an institution, individual, or group as a source of income.

Philanthropic groups existed in the ancient civilizations of the Middle East, Greece, and Rome: an endowment supported Plato's Academy (c. 387 BC) for some 900 years; the Islamic waqf (religious endowment) dates to the 7th century AD; and the medieval Christian church administered trusts for benevolent purposes. 17th- and 18th-century western Europe founded organizations for worthy causes in support of the arts, education, medical research, social services, environmental causes, and other special interests. This endowment fund is to assist with maintenance for the Museum, operation of the Museum and education for and about the Museum.

How this one works.

Endowment funds are held separately from other Museum funds. The principal will not be used and all interest will be retained in the fund until it reaches $25,000. There after 70% of the interest can be used to support, maintain and educate about the Museum. The Knox County Agricultural Endowment Fund is over seen by a committee of 7 and is audited annually.

Consider a donation to the Endowment Fund

There are several ways you can give donations to the Knox County Agriculture Museum Endowment Fund: A financial gift, a bequest of funds, stocks, bonds or property, or supporting other Endowment Fund raising projects such as the Golden Book.

With the Golden Book, not only do the donations help with the Endowment Fund, but the names of many folks and organizations important to the past and present of Knox County will be recorded in the Golden Book. The book will be maintained at the Agriculture Museum for years to come.

The Golden Book offers different ways to permanently record names of family members, friends or community members. Names can be In Honor of living individuals or In Memory of those no longer living. You may choose to have a group or organization recorded in the book.

You can choose a single line on a group page for $10 or you can choose a quarter of a page with up to 5 lines for $40, a half page with up to 7 lines for $75 or a full page with up to 12 lines for $150. Pages in the Golden Book measure 12”x16”. All text in the Golden Book is done by hand calligraphy.
